In Memory of…

In honor of tomorrow, July 4th, and the gifts we’ve been given in America, here are two of my favorite patriotic anthems.

This first link is to the story of the Star-Spangled Banner. The story has been researched and is presented by David Barton of WallBuilders.

This second link is for American Anthem written by Gene Scheer and sung by Nora Jones. The song was used for the PBS series, The War by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Although numerous You Tube versions exist, I’ve chosen this one because the lyrics scroll on the screen. In addition to Ms Jones perfect rendition, it is the words that stir our minds and emotions.

My featured photo was taken in Arlington National Cemetery on June 6th of this year. If you know anything of our nation’s history, you’ll recognize that date as the anniversary of D-Day.

In this section of the cemetery, each of the plain white tombstones begins with the phrase:
“In Memory of . . . ”

However you celebrate the day tomorrow, please take some time to gratefully acknowledge those who sacrificed so much for your freedom to enjoy this day.

Until next time, please remember . . . Freedom isn’t Free,
SuZan
