Nokomis Beach

Near the end of our drive on Casey Key we stopped at Nokomis Public Beach. Plenty to do here: swimming, sun bathing, etc. Sandcastles anyone? Plenty of shells, too, for hunters and collectors. This beach was covered with shells—mainly broken ones. Ouch! The tide must have brought them in. Head north up the beach for … More Nokomis Beach

Yoder’s was in a simple clapboard and brick building. Der Dutchman had more of a polished corporate look. My husband … More Yoder’s Restaurant

Venice Pier

As far as I’m concerned the best time to be on a beach is at sunset—provided the beach faces west. Since we were on the gulf side of Florida this certainly worked. The Venice Pier afforded us an extra treat with the appearance of two dolphins. They were probably attracted by the activity of the … More Venice Pier

April Fool’s

I studied his paintings as a child because I loved the stories they told or caused me to imagine they told. But I’ll admit some of these April Fool’s Day covers have … More April Fool’s
