The Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale’s annual missions fundraiser occurs that same weekend. https://kansas.mccsale.org

If you have always wanted to view beautiful handmade Mennonite and Amish quilts in-person, why not make a weekend of it? Viewing of displayed quilts begins Friday at 4:00 p.m. Reserved seat tickets for the auction also go on sale at that time.

You will enjoy the ethnic food. My favorite is Vereneké, kind of a German/Swiss version of ravioli served with cream gravy with ham chunks. And of course, the homemade pies. Make sure to wear loose-fitting clothing since German and Swiss foods were formulated to fill famished farmers.

On Saturday attend the Thesman and Klassen book signing in Newton. The two towns (Newton and Hutchinson) are approximately 35 minutes apart.

If you are still hungry after Saturday’s book-signing, RJ and SuZan will direct you to local restaurants.
